Why have a humidifier?
- Humid air feels warmer.

The recommended relative humidity in a home is 35%, yet the relative humidity in an average home without a humidifier is approximately 15%.
We recommend the Aprilaire® Model 400 flow-through type of humidifier. In this type of humidifier, water flows across a patented distribution panel. Dry air is forced through the panel and picks up moisture before circulating into your home. Minerals and impurities are deposited on the water panel, which is replaceable. Unlike past humidifiers, the Aprilaire® Model 400 is self-contained system and no water is wasted down the drain.
High Efficiency Air Filters
The air we breath in our homes contains dust, pollen, spores and other particles. Indoor air can be more contaminated than outdoor air. If you have a concern about indoor air quality, you should have a high efficiency air filter or electronic air cleaner. Environmental Systems Associates recommends the Aprilaire® high efficiency pleated media air filter. It contains a Hepa-type filter which can capture 99% of particles 5 microns or larger. Advantages of a high efficiency pleated media air filter:
- Does not use electricity and thus will not produce an ozone odor.
- No moving parts.
- Filter components are not subject to mechanical failure.
- The only maintenance required is to change the filter once per year—easily done by the homeowner.
Programmable Thermostats
Environmental Systems Associates offers programmable thermostats to automatically adjust temperature during parts of the day for increased energy savings.
A programmable thermostat:
- Automatically calculates when to turn your system on to have your home at the desired temperature when you get up in the morning or arrive home from work.
- Can save you up to 12-29% of your associated energy cost by gradually bringing your system to the desired temperature.
- Is easy to program.
- Has a temporary override to easily adjust for immediate temperature needs - such as having a crowd over for dinner. It will return automatically to the original program at the next cycle.
- Is available for both Heat Pump and Gas Furnace/AC systems.
